An online course begins with novelty and then loses its place among urgent tasks. “I will study when I have free time” rarely creates actual study time.
Define an outcome outside the platform
Replace “complete 100% of the lessons” with:
- build a small project;
- learn one specific tool;
- prepare for an exam;
- apply a method at work.
This helps distinguish an essential module from an optional bonus.
Create a weekly rhythm
Choose two recurring blocks and a minimum result for each: one lesson plus an exercise, one chapter plus notes, or one part of the project.
After watching, complete an active action. Passive video creates familiarity without showing whether you can use the material.
Use a return rule:
After a missed session, I will open my last notes for five minutes and continue with the nearest unfinished exercise.
Do not punish yourself by automatically restarting the entire course.
For combining study with employment, see how to study after work. The broader system is in academic procrastination.
